You play on your phone. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. The story starts in 1961: the Wall has just gone up, your brother has escaped West, and you need your own way across.

Yes. The route traces some of the most audacious Wall escape attempts in history across 10 stops, including Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and stops themed around cars and a balloon. It finishes at a DDR watchtower.

It starts at S+U Potsdamer Platz, on the Leipziger Platz side. The walk covers 3.9 km and takes a little over an hour, depending on how quickly you solve the puzzles. You can pause and continue later if you want a break.
