This is an outdoor escape-room-style game played on the streets of Anniston. The app leads you from stop to stop and sets puzzles in what is in front of you, all within a story inspired by L. Frank Baum's original 1900 Oz novel. You start any time on your phone.
How is this different from booking an indoor escape room?
You get the same puzzle-solving teamwork, but outdoors and with no fixed time slot to book. You start whenever suits your group, walk between 12 stops, and can pause and continue later. Instead of a locked room, you try to outsmart the witch using clues found around town.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The game starts at 1 Honorable Brian Howell @ W 11th St. The route is about 2 km with 12 stops, including Noble Street Park, the Calhoun County Courthouse and Grand Central. Most groups take around 90 minutes, and you can pause at any point and pick it up again later.
Can we play as a group, or on our own?
Both work. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so friends, families or work groups can crack the puzzles together. If you prefer to play solo, you can take on the witch's challenges alone and compete against the leaderboard.
Is it all outdoors, and what if it rains?
Yes, the game is played outside as you walk between stops on Anniston's streets, so dress for the weather. Since there is no booking slot, you can pick a dry day to start, and if the weather turns mid-route you can pause and continue later.
