Decumanus Street is the main street of the old town of Poreč, Croatia, and it follows the line of the east-west axis of the Roman colony of Parentium. The story behind it

In Roman times Parentium was laid out on a neat grid, and the decumanus was the principal street running through it, the counterpart of the cross street known as the cardo. The town later passed through Byzantine, medieval and Venetian hands, yet the old street plan survived. That is why the peninsula centre of Poreč still feels so orderly, with Decumanus running straight through it and shorter lanes branching off on either side.

The start of the street is marked by the Pentagonal Tower, a fortification from the 15th century, when Poreč was under Venetian rule.
