Can we play the secret society mystery with just two players?
Yes. Two players work well, which makes it a good date idea, and larger groups of friends or family can play together too. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on a phone, so you share the clues and decode the puzzles as a team.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts and ends at Coffman Memorial Union, so you return to where you began. In between you walk 2.7 km past Nils Hasselmo Hall, the Molecular and Cellular Biology Building, Dialogue Artwork, Harvard Street, Spannungsfeld, Platonic Figure, Northrop and the Weisman Art Museum.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take about two hours, including the walking and the puzzles. You can pause at any point, for a coffee or a break, and continue the investigation later from where you stopped.
Is this a guided mystery tour, and do we need to book a time?
No guide and no booked slot. It is a self-guided outdoor game played on your phone: the app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what you see there. Start whenever you like.
Is it suitable for kids?
It suits families with teens who like codes and conspiracy stories. The plot about a secret society manipulating world leaders and the decoding puzzles are pitched at adults and older children, so younger kids may lose interest over a walk of about two hours.
