What are the Leiden keys in this quest?
The story is built around five lost keys, called Memory, Knowledge, Freedom, Courage and Truth, hidden across the city. You follow a missing archivist's trail to find them, and one stop on the route is called The Keys Above the Market.
Is this a self-guided walking tour?
Yes. You play it on your phone: the app leads you from place to place, tells the story of each stop and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, and you can pause and continue later.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The walk starts at Rembrandtplaats and finishes back there after 15 stops, including the Japan Museum SieboldHuis. The route is about 3.3 km and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours with time for the stories and puzzles.
Is it suitable for children?
The puzzles are rated easy and the mystery format works well for families with older children who enjoy solving clues. With close to three hours of walking and listening, it can be long for younger children, though you can pause and finish another time.
