Souq Waqif, the standing market, has been a hub for hundreds of years where merchants and travellers met to trade spices, pearls, food and textiles, long before the modern city rose around it. The route leads you through its alleys and quiet courtyards, past perfume and spice sellers, the camel pen and the falcons.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at The Water Well, opposite Al Said Sweets, inside Souq Waqif. The route is a loop, so the final stop brings you back to the same well, which makes it easy to meet up again, find a café or head home afterwards.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Plan on around 75 minutes for about 1.8 km of walking, rated easy. You can pause at any point to shop, eat or rest in the shade, then continue later from where you stopped. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank.
Is it good for children?
