The Nativity of Christ Cathedral is Riga's main Orthodox church, its gold domes rising out of the trees at the edge of the Esplanade park. The interior is dark, candlelit and heavy with icons.

Riga's Art Nouveau Museum occupies a restored apartment on Alberta iela, the street with the greatest concentration of Art Nouveau facades in the city. The spiral staircase inside is the single most photographed detail. Look up at the building fronts as you walk the street.

Riga Cathedral is the largest medieval church in the Baltics, and its organ was for a time the biggest in the world. Concerts run through the year. The cloister alongside is worth the separate look.
