Yes, in an outdoor form. This is an escape-room-style game played on your phone, with a new story inspired by L. Frank Baum's 1900 Oz novel. You follow clues to each location on and around Lygon St and solve puzzles to outsmart the witch, with original Oz-themed songs in the app.
Where does the game start and finish?
It starts at the William Ievers Drinking Fountain in Argyle Square on Lygon St and is a loop, finishing back at Argyle Square by Piazza Italia. Along the way you pass stops including Parco Canteen, Players on Lygon, Watt's Shoe Store, La Mama HQ and Don Tojo.
How long does it take and how far do you walk?
Most players take around 100 minutes, so plan on about an hour and three quarters including walking and puzzles. The route covers roughly 2.2 km. You can pause at any point and continue later if you want a coffee or gelato break.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time slot?
Yes, it works well for groups of friends, families, birthdays or work outings, and one ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no booking slot: start whenever suits you, and pause and pick up again later if needed.
Can I play on my own?
Yes. You can tackle the witch's challenges solo and compare your result against the leaderboard, or team up with friends to crack the puzzles together. There is no group to join and no guide, so you set your own pace.
