Does this walk cover the Hamburg waterfront and harbour?
Yes. The route runs along the water from Landungsbrücken past Strandkai, the Marco-Polo-Terrassen, Sandtorhafen, the Elbphilharmonie, Speicherstadt and Kehrwiederspitze, then back via Baumwall, the Rickmer Rickmers museum ship and the Alter Elbtunnel. It also takes in the Portugiesenviertel and Gustav-Adolfs-Kyrkan.
Where does it start and finish?
It starts at Landungsbrücken and loops back there at the end, so you finish where you began. Along the way you cross HafenCity and Speicherstadt, pass Michelwiese and walk through the Portuguese Quarter before returning to the river.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Plan on about three hours for roughly 3.5 km on foot, including time for the story and puzzles at each stop. You can pause whenever you like, stop for food or a break, and continue later from where you left off.
Is it good for kids?
It is recommended for families. The story involves a chase and a threat with a knife, and the puzzles ask you to follow cryptic clues in what you see around you, so it suits children old enough to enjoy a bit of suspense, work on clues and walk 3.5 km.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no fixed time slot and no guide to meet. You start whenever you are ready, ideally during the day, since the route is outdoors. One ticket covers your whole group, and you play together on your phones while walking side by side.
I only have an afternoon in Hamburg—could this fit my schedule?
Yes. The quest takes about an hour and a half, so you can squeeze it in between lunch at the harbor and an evening drink without feeling rushed.
Does the route stay near the water the whole time?
Pretty much. You’ll weave along the Elbe’s edge, through old piers and warehouse lanes, catching constant river views while chasing clues.
