Over The Market Square: the heart of Bruges
The Markt is the centre of Bruges, lined with stepped gable houses and dominated by the belfry, whose climb of several hundred steps ends in a view over the whole medieval town. Horse-drawn carriages still pull up along one side. It is busiest at midday and calmest early.
