Starting and ending at the RJ Reynolds Statue, this 2.1 km downtown loop passes the Hanes Textile Mill, Bailey Brothers Factory and the Nissen Building on the trail of the city's tobacco boom. Friends, families and history-curious visitors who like puzzles at their own pace will enjoy its roughly two hours. Pick something else if you want a live guide or an evening outing, as daylight play is recommended.

Yes. The app on your phone leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no scheduled group, so you start whenever you like, and one ticket covers your whole group.
Is there a scavenger hunt in Winston-Salem?
This walk works like one. You follow clues and solve challenges across a dozen stops tied to the city's tobacco and textile past, from the Hanes Textile Mill and Reynolds American to Brown's Hardware Store and the Bailey Brothers Factory. You can play at your own pace or race your friends.
Does the route pass Depot Street?
Yes. Depot Street is one of the stops, coming after the Reynolds Factories and before the Nissen Building, near the end of the loop. You hear the story of the place on your phone and solve a puzzle there before heading back to the starting point.
Where does the walk start, and where should we park?
It starts and finishes at the RJ Reynolds Statue, so you end up back where you began. The best parking is along Main Street between 1st and 4th Street. No attraction tickets are needed for any of the stops on the route.
How long does it take, and can we pause or play at night?
Plan on about two hours for the 2.1 km route, all outdoors. You can pause and continue later whenever you need a break. Playing at night is not recommended, so start during the day to see the buildings and clues clearly.
