From the State Library of New South Wales, about 2 km of central Sydney leads past Il Porcellino, the Matthew Flinders Statue and Angel Place, following a story drawn from Baum's 1900 Oz novel. Friends, couples, families and Oz fans get around 90 minutes of outdoor escape-room play. Anyone wanting an indoor room with a live game master should book a traditional escape room.

How is this different from an indoor escape room in Sydney?
It is an outdoor escape-room-style game played on your phone. Instead of a locked room, clues lead you to real places around the city centre, where you crack puzzles to outsmart the witch. You can team up with friends or play solo against the leaderboard.
Are there any costs involved?
The game is a paid quest, and one ticket covers your whole group, so you do not pay per person. The current price is shown on this page. You play on your own phone, and the original Oz-themed songs are included in the app and stay available after you get home.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The game starts at the State Library of New South Wales. Allow around 90 minutes to walk the roughly 2 km route and solve the puzzles, passing stops such as the Richard Johnson Obelisk, the Lloyd Rees Fountain and the Matthew Flinders Statue.
Does the route go through Angel Place?
Yes. Angel Place is one of the stops, coming near the end of the route after the JAM Record Bar. Earlier stops include St James Square, Il Porcellino and the Dobell Memorial Sculpture, all within the walk of about 2 km from the State Library.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
There is no time slot to book and no guide to meet. Start whenever suits your group, play at your own pace, and pause if you want a coffee break, then pick up where you left off later.
