Is this a guided Sunset Strip tour or self-guided?
It is self-guided and played on your phone. The app leads you from stop to stop along the Strip, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, and you can start whenever you like.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Chateau Marmont and finishes at the Rainbow Bar and Grill, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass Carney's, Andaz West Hollywood, The Comedy Store, Mel's Drive-In, the Rocky and Bullwinkle Statue, The Viper Room, The Whisky a Go Go and the Roxy Theatre.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Players typically take around 100 minutes, so allow close to two hours including walking and puzzles. The route covers about 2.3 km. You can pause at any point and pick up where you left off later, which makes it easy to stop for food or a drink on the Strip.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. There is no fixed time slot to book, so you can begin at Chateau Marmont whenever it suits you and take the stops at your own pace.
Is the route affected by construction?
Parts of the route may be affected by temporary ongoing construction work along the Strip. The walk is outdoors on city streets between Chateau Marmont and the Rainbow Bar and Grill, so it is worth allowing a little extra time and following local signs where needed.
