Is this a guided plague doctor tour of Prague?
No. It is a self-guided walk played on your phone. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of the plague in 18th century Prague at each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There are no fixed departure times and no group to join.
Where does the Prague plague tour start and which places does it visit?
It starts at the Statue of Charles IV and visits the Church of St Castulus, the Convent of St. Agnes, St. Francis Hospital and its pharmacy, the Jewish Quarter and Kafka Statue, the Marian column on Old Town Square, the Monastery of St. Clemens and Virgin Mary Square.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Plan on about 50 minutes for a walk of around 1.7 km through the Old Town. You can start whenever you like, pause for a coffee or a church visit, and continue later from where you stopped.
Is it suitable for children?
It is recommended as a family activity. The short distance and puzzles at each stop suit school-age children who can walk 1.7 km and are comfortable with a story about the Black Death. It is best played during the day.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers your whole group, so you can solve the puzzles together as you walk. There is no time slot to book: start at the Statue of Charles IV whenever suits you, as the walk is self-guided and runs at your own pace.
