Is this plague tour of Prague guided, or can we go at our own time?
It is self-guided on your phone, so there is no guide and no fixed departure. The app leads you from place to place, tells the story of the plague in 18th-century Prague at each stop and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. You can start whenever you like.
Where does the plague doctor tour start and finish?
It starts at the Statue of Charles IV and finishes at the Church of St Castulus (Kostel Sv. Hastala), so it does not return to the start. On the way you pass Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter, St. Francis Hospital and its pharmacy, and the Convent of St. Agnes.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 90 minutes, walking and puzzles included, over about 1.7 km through the Old Town. It is best done during the day. You can pause at any point and continue later, so a coffee stop or a longer look at a church will not break the game.
Is it suitable for children?
It is recommended for families. The story deals with the Black Death, so it suits children who enjoy a slightly dark, spooky tale and can manage a 1.7 km walk with puzzles along the way. Very young children may lose interest over the full 90 minutes.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no time slot to book and no group to join, so you start when you are ready at the Statue of Charles IV and go at your own pace.
