What is the Stop the Bomb game in Pasadena?
It is a self-guided puzzle walk played on your phone. The app leads you through central Pasadena, tells the story of each place and sets puzzles based on what is in front of you. Your mission is to work with the scientists of the 1930s to prevent a nuclear apocalypse.
Is it like an escape room in Pasadena?
It shares the puzzle-solving and the race against a crisis, but there is no room. The game is played outdoors on the streets, with puzzles built around real places on the route, such as the Einstein public art at the Senior Center, Legge Alley and the Anderson Typewriter Company.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts and ends at Vroman's Bookstore, so you finish where you began. In between, the route of about 3 km passes Memorial Park, Russell's, Pasadena City Hall, the USC Pacific Asia Museum, the Pasadena Star-News Building and the Pasadena Playhouse.
How long does it take, and do we need to book a time?
Plan on around 90 minutes at an easy walking pace. There is no set start time and no guide to meet, so you can begin whenever suits you. You can also pause along the way and continue later from where you stopped.
