Yes. Your phone leads you between 11 stops with Rowling links, including Black Medicine (formerly Nicholson Cafe) where she wrote, Thomas Riddell's grave, the William McGonagall tombstone and the place that inspired Hogwarts. Each stop has its story and a puzzle. There is no guide and no fixed start time.
Is it a Harry Potter escape room?
It is an escape game played outdoors rather than in a room. You solve puzzles hidden in the real streets, graves and buildings in front of you as you walk, following a story in which you play Eladora, a young witch. The whole game runs on your phone.
Where is the Greyfriars Bobby statue?
The statue of Greyfriars Bobby, Edinburgh's famous dog, is one of the stops on this route. You reach it after the graves of Thomas Riddell and William McGonagall, just before the walk continues to the Grassmarket and Victoria Street.
Where does it start, and how long does it take?
The walk starts at the City Chambers and finishes at the Museum on the Mound. It covers about 2.7 km and takes around an hour of playing time, longer if you stop for a coffee or linger at the castle. You can pause the game and pick it up again later.
