Domande frequenti
Is this a Harry Potter escape room in Edinburgh?
It is an outdoor escape game rather than a room. You play on your phone as Eladora, a 12-year-old witch just home from the Academy, walking between real places and solving a puzzle at each one. The route takes in Rowling-linked sites such as the café where she wrote and Thomas Riddell's Grave.
Can I do a self-guided Harry Potter tour of Edinburgh with this?
Yes. There is no guide and no group to join. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets the puzzles. You can start whenever you like, pause and carry on later, and visit spots including Riddle's Close, Greyfriars Bobby Statue and Black Medicine, formerly Nicholson Cafe.
Where does the quest start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at the City Chambers and finishes at the Old Medical School, so it is not a loop. The route covers 2.7 km over 11 stops, and most players take about two and a half hours including walking and puzzles. It works best in daylight.
Does the route pass the Greyfriars Bobby dog statue?
Yes. The Greyfriars Bobby Statue is one of the stops, reached after Victoria Street and the Grassmarket. From there the quest continues to the William McGonagall Tombstone and Thomas Riddell's Grave before heading on to Black Medicine and the Old Medical School.
Is it suitable for kids, and can we play as a group?
It is recommended for families, and the story follows a 12-year-old witch, so it suits school-age children who can manage 2.7 km on foot. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route, which makes it easy for a family or a couple to share.
