Cascada Monumental, Barcelona — Guida per visitatori e cosa fare nei dintorni
Informazioni su Cascada Monumental
Cascada Monumental in Parc de la Ciutadella is a breathtaking monument to Barcelona's modernist ambitions and a work of extraordinary beauty. Built by Josep Fontseré for the 1888 World's Fair, this spectacular waterfall was designed to showcase Barcelona's position as a progressive, forward-thinking city. Young Antoni Gaudi, still at the beginning of his legendary career, contributed his genius to the project by designing the hydraulic systems and the water tank that powers the cascading water. Gaudi also designed two decorative medallions featuring lizards, small touches that would later become symbolic of his artistic signature. The cascade is inspired by Rome's famous Trevi Fountain, featuring sculptures of Venus, Aurora, Eros, nymphs, and gryphons that create a mythological tableau. The best part: this stunning attraction is completely free to visit and enjoy.
