Is there a self-guided Angels and Demons tour in Rome?
Yes. This quest is played on your phone with no guide and no group to join. The app leads you from stop to stop along the Illuminati path, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle using what is in front of you. You can start whenever you like.
Where does the route start and finish?
It starts at Santa delle Naiadi and finishes at Piazza San Pietro, so it is not a loop. In between you pass Santa Maria della Vitoria, Fontana del Tritone, Fontana di Trevi, the Pantheon, Fontana dei Fiumi and Castel Sant'Angelo, covering about 5.2 km on foot.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take about three hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. You do not have to do it in one go: you can pause at any point, stop for a coffee or a meal, and continue later from where you left off.
Can we play it in the evening?
Yes, you can start any time. Note that the Pantheon closes after 7PM, but the game still lets you carry on playing from outside, so an evening start will not stop you from reaching the finish at Piazza San Pietro.
Can a group play together, and is it suitable for kids?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or families can share a phone and solve clues as a team. The puzzles are rated medium difficulty and the route is about 5.2 km, so it works best for older children who enjoy a mystery.
