Is there an app to explore Leipzig on foot?
Yes. This quest runs on your phone and leads you on foot through central Leipzig, from the Demokratieglocke past the Oper, Gewandhaus, Nikolaikirche and Mädler Passage to St. Thomas Church. At each stop it tells the story of the place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Demokratieglocke and finishes at St. Thomas Church, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass the Oper, Gewandhaus, MDR-Tower, University Leipzig, Nikolaikirche, Riquet House, the Old Stock Exchange on Naschmarkt, Mädler Passage, Marktplatz and the Bach Monument.
How long does it take and how far is it?
Most players take around 80 minutes, walking and puzzles included, and the route covers about 2.1 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, so it is easy to fit around a meal or a visit inside one of the buildings.
Is it free, and do we need to book a time?
It is free to play, so your whole group can take part together. There is no time slot to book and no group to meet: start whenever you like. The route is open around the clock, though daylight makes the puzzle details easier to spot.
