Is there a self-guided walking tour of Leamington Spa?
Yes. This is a self-guided walk played on your phone. It follows a 1.6 km loop through the town centre, passing All Saint's Church, Victoria Bridge, the Royal Pump Rooms and the Czechoslovak Memorial Fountain. At each stop you hear the story of the place and solve a puzzle based on what is in front of you.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Davis Clock Tower and ends there too. The route is a loop of about 1.6 km, so you finish back where you began. Stops along the way include Regent Court, Dormer Place, the War Memorial, the Old Post Office, the Willes Obelisk and the Dr. Jephson Memorial.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Allow about 80 minutes, or around an hour and a half if you linger at the stops. You can pause at any point and continue later. The app runs on your phone the whole way, so make sure it is fully charged or bring a power bank.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no time slot to book. You start whenever you like, with no guide and no group to join. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated for the quest, so a couple or a few friends can play together.
Is it good for a date?
It is tagged as fun to do as a couple. You walk a relaxed 1.6 km loop together, work out the puzzles as a team and hear stories about the town's notable residents, with Dr. Jephson as your guide. You set the pace and can stop whenever you want.
