Is there a treasure hunt in Romania I can play on my own?
Yes. This is a self-guided treasure hunt at the fortified church in Curciu, Transylvania, played on your phone. The app leads you through ten stops in and around the fortress, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at the entrance gate on the outside of the fortified church and finishes in the inner courtyard, south east of the church. Along the way you visit the chapel, the gate tower, the south wall, the main tower, the west portal and gate, the sacristy and the Lard Tower.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Most players take around an hour and a half, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers about 1.8 km, mostly within and around the church's fortified walls, so you can take your time at each stop.
Can we play as a family or small group?
Yes. Families and small groups can play together on one phone, and one ticket covers the whole group playing together. Solving the puzzles side by side is a good way to share the stories of the fortress.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking of a time slot is needed. You start whenever you arrive at the entrance gate, and you can pause the quest and continue later, which helps if you are fitting it into a day of driving between fortified churches.
