San Francisco Haight Ashbury: Hippie Culture
Walk the streets of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury , the neighborhood at the heart of the 1967 Summer of Love , when roughly 100,000 young people converged on this Victorian corner of the city to build something new. Trace the footsteps of the hippie counterculture that reshaped American music, art, and politics. Visit the homes where Janis Joplin , Jimi Hendrix , and The Grateful Dead lived and played. Stand in the Panhandle where free concerts rattled the windows, and in Golden Gate Park where thousands gathered for the Human Be-In. This is the story of a neighborhood, a movement, and a summer that the world has never quite stopped talking about.
