Does this walking tour start near the hotels in the Gaslamp Quarter?
It starts at the Gaslamp Historical Sign, inside the quarter itself, so it is an easy walk for anyone staying downtown. The route also passes The Keating Hotel and the Horton Grand Hotel. There is no set departure time, so you begin whenever you arrive at the start.
Where does the Gaslamp walk start and end?
You start at the Gaslamp Historical Sign and finish at the Balboa Theatre, so the game ends in a different place than it begins. In between you cover about 2 km, with stops including Market St, the Davis-Horton House, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum and J St.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Plan on about two hours to walk the route, read the stories and solve the riddles. You can pause at any point, stop for a break in the quarter and continue later from where you left off.
Is it good for kids, and can we play as a group?
It is recommended for families, and children who enjoy riddles and code-cracking will get the most out of it, as long as they can manage a 2 km walk. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, and you do not need to book a time slot.
