A puzzle hunt through Rethymno's Venetian old town. Eight stops, eight brain teasers: a cipher, Roman numerals, a number lock, a Latin anagram, lateral thinking, a logic riddle and a finale that ties them together. 

Every answer unlocks a true story. Around 1.5 km and 1 hour 45 minutes, self-guided, start any time. No tickets needed.

Escape-room fans, couples, friends and families with teens or older children can solve their way through Rethymno's Venetian old town. Over 1.3 km and a little over an hour, you crack a cipher, a number lock and a Latin anagram from Guora Gate to the Fortezza. If you want a live guide to question, or your children are too young for logic riddles, pick something else.

Where does the puzzle hunt start and finish?
It starts at Guora Gate and finishes at the Fortezza of Rethymnon, so you end somewhere different from where you began. In between you pass Platia Tessaron Martiron, the Neratzes Mosque, the Rimondi Fountain, the Ephorate of Antiquities, the Venetian Harbour and the Rethymno Lighthouse.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Most players take a little over an hour, walking and puzzles included, over about 1.3 km of old town streets and harbourside. You can pause at any point and continue later, so it fits easily around a coffee stop or lunch.
Is it suitable for children?
It works best for older children and teens. The eight stops involve a cipher, Roman numerals, a number lock, a Latin anagram, lateral thinking and a logic riddle, which younger children may find hard without a lot of help from adults.
Do we need to book a time or pay to play as a group?
No. The quest is free to play and self-guided, so there is no time slot to book and no group to join. Start whenever you like on your phone and play together with friends or family at your own pace.
Is it an outdoor activity?
Yes, the route is a walk through the Venetian old town, past the harbour and lighthouse to the Fortezza, so plan for the weather. If it turns hot or rainy, you can pause the game and pick it up again later.
