Where does the Shakespeare walk in Central Park start and finish?
It starts at Mariner's Gate and finishes at Belvedere Castle, so it is a one-way route rather than a loop. Along the way you pass Summit Rock, Seneca Village, the Arthur Ross Pinetum, the Great Lawn, the Delacorte Theater, the Shakespeare Garden and the Swedish Cottage.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 90 minutes, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers about 1.7 km and includes an easy hike up to the two highest natural points in Central Park, so comfortable shoes are a good idea.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the walk, so friends, couples and families can follow the route, hear the stories and work through the puzzles side by side.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking of a time slot is needed. You start whenever you like at Mariner's Gate, play at your own pace on your phone with no guide or group to join, and you can pause and continue later if you want a break.
Is the route outdoors, and what should we bring?
The whole route runs outdoors through Central Park, from open spaces like the Great Lawn to garden paths and rocky high points. Wear a hat and sunscreen and carry enough water, especially on a warm day.
