First-time visitors and day-trippers get an easy 2.8 km walk of around 90 minutes along the Old Port, from the Daniel McAllister tug to the Jacques-Cartier Pier, with clues and stories of the Sulpicians and early Montreal. Couples and families wanting more action than a museum visit will enjoy it. The route stays outdoors by the river, so if you want a live guide or shelter from bad weather, pick something else.

What is there to see and do in the Old Port of Montreal on foot?
This walk takes in the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History, the Daniel McAllister Tug, Habitat 67, the Grand Quai, the Montreal Science Centre, the Jacques-Cartier Pier, La Grande Roue de Montreal, Hangar 16, the Tyrolienne MTL Zipline and Voiles en Voiles, with a story and a puzzle at each place.
How many km is the walk and how long does it take?
The route covers about 2.8 km. Most players take around 90 minutes, including the walking and solving the puzzles at each stop, though you can go at your own pace.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History and finishes at Voiles en Voiles on the waterfront. It is not a loop, so you end up at a different spot from where you began.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so couples, friends and families can follow the clues on one phone and work through the puzzles side by side.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking or set time is needed. You start whenever you like, with no guide or group to meet, and you can pause partway along the Old Port and continue later.
