Allow a little over two hours. Anyone who finds real murder cases too grisly, or wants a live guide to question, should choose a gentler walk.

Is there a murder mystery game you can play on foot in Manchester?
Yes. You play Detective Superintendent Marshall, sent from Scotland Yard to reopen the city's coldest murder cases. Your phone leads you along a 4 km route, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you, from Piccadilly Train Station to Manchester Crown Court and the Town Hall.
Can we play it today without booking a time?
Yes. There is no set start time, no group to join and no guide to meet, so you can begin whenever suits you. Plan for a little over two hours, walking and puzzles included, and you can pause and carry on later if you need a break.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts on Hoyle Street and finishes at the Quaker Burial Ground, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass Piccadilly Train Station, the Alan Turing Memorial, Manchester Crown Court, the Shakespeare Pub, the Royal Exchange and Manchester Town Hall, among other stops.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. Friends or family can play together, and one ticket covers the whole group playing together. You follow the route and solve the puzzles as a team on the phone, and you can pause the game and continue later if the group wants to stop for food or a drink.
Is it all outdoors, and do we need anything with us?
It is a self-guided walk through the city streets, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for around 4 km. Bring a charged phone: some clues may need the phone's flashlight, so the torch function is worth having ready.
