Key West, historically, was America's richest city per capita. And the main reason was the treasure its captains would pull from wrecks on the seabed. Luckily for modern visitors, many of those treasures can be seen in the City's museums. But for the Key West Police Department, you have to be alert for the unscrupulous forces that are out to take the treasure for themselves. And in "Buccaneer Booty's Been Burgled from Key West", just such a travesty has occurred. Can you track down the treasure?

Families with school-age children and teens, and friends spending a few days in Key West, get a light detective game chasing stolen pirate treasure through Old Town, past the Truman Little White House, Hemingway House and Pirates Well. Allow just under two hours for the 3 km loop. Anyone hoping for a live guide's stories, or who would rather tour the shipwreck museums inside, should choose something else.

Where does the pirate treasure hunt start and finish?
It starts at the Key West Shipwreck Museum and runs as a loop through Old Town, taking in the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, Truman Waterfront Park, Blue Heaven, Duval St and the Oldest House Museum before finishing on Greene St, back where you began.
How many km is the walk and how long does it take?
The route covers about 3 km. Most players take just under two hours, including the walking between stops and solving the puzzles along the way. You can pause at any point and carry on later if you want a break.
Does the route include the Truman Little White House?
Yes. The Truman Little White House is the third stop, reached after the Shipwreck Museum and the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum. The app tells you the story of the place and sets a puzzle there before leading you on to Truman Waterfront Park.
Do I need tickets for the Key West Shipwreck Museum to play?
No. The quest needs no attraction tickets. It starts at the Shipwreck Museum and the puzzles are based on what you can see along the way, so you play without entering. You can always visit the museums separately on another day.
Can we play as a family or group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together, and it suits school-age children and teens who enjoy pirates and treasure. There is no time slot to book and no guide to meet: start whenever you like and pause whenever you need.
