Yes. The story is set in 1573, with the city under siege. You walk in the footsteps of Kenau Simonsdochter Hasselaer, summoned by a shadowy stranger beyond the northern gate, and pass places such as the Wall Tower, the City Gate and the Burgwal while solving puzzles tied to the story.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at the Commander and finishes at the City square, so it is not a loop. Along the way you pass the Bridge to the city, Zandersbrug, the Wall Tower, the City Gate, the Burgwal, the Bank and the Hospital, covering about 3.9 km on foot.
How long does it take?
Most players take about two and a half hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. You don't have to do it in one go: you can pause the game and continue later, which helps if you want to stop for a coffee or split it across a day.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or a family can follow the story and solve the puzzles side by side. No tickets for attractions are needed along the route, as everything happens outdoors in the streets of Haarlem.
Do we need to book a time to play?
No. There is no group to join and no guide, so you start whenever you like. The route is open around the clock, but it is better played during daylight hours, when the places and details the puzzles rely on are easier to see.
