What is the Odyssey walk in Bucharest?
It is a self-guided walk through Bucharest's theatre district, played on your phone. The app leads you through 12 stops, tells the story of each place and sets puzzles about well-known international actors, writers and films. Architecture and street art along the way add to it.
Where does the theatre walk start and finish?
It starts at the Sheraton Hotel and finishes at Nottara, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass Cinema Elvira Popescu, Club 99, Teatrul Infinit, Improteca, Metropolis, In Culise, a coffee shop, Bulandra, POINT and Tandarica, covering about 3.3 km.
How long does it take?
Most players take about 2 hours, including the walking and the puzzles. There is no time limit, and you can pause at any point and continue later, so a coffee break or a longer stop at one of the theatres is easy to fit in.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. There is no set start time and no group to join, so you can begin whenever suits you and walk at your own pace without a guide.
Is it suitable for children?
The puzzles draw on knowledge of international actors, writers and films, so the walk suits teenagers and adults who know their cinema and theatre. Younger children may find the questions hard, and the route covers about 3.3 km over roughly 2 hours.
