Is this a self-guided walk?
Yes. You play it on your phone, and the app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, so you start whenever you like.
What is this Brighton mystery adventure about?
It is a puzzle walk through the North Laine and The Lanes that ends on the beach. Along the way you find secret passages and hidden messages, and hear stories about 18th-century outlaws, Queen Victoria's beach house and the gift Banksy left the city.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Brighton railway station and finishes on Brighton Beach, so it is not a loop. In between you pass the Toy and Model Museum, the North Laine, New Road and the Theatre Royal, The Lanes, the Friends' Meeting House and the Hippodrome, about 1.9 km in all.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around 1 hour 45 minutes, including walking and solving the puzzles. You can pause at any point and carry on later, which makes it easy to stop for a coffee or a browse in the North Laine shops.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or a couple can follow the route and work on the medium-difficulty puzzles side by side. There is no set time to book, so you can start whenever your group is ready.
