Is this a self-guided, app-based mafia tour of the North End?
Yes. The app on your phone leads you from place to place, tells the story of each spot and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you. There is no guide and no fixed group, so you can start whenever you like.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts and ends at the Rose Kennedy Rose Garden, so you finish where you began. Along the way you pass Hanover Street, St. Leonard's Church, the site of the Great Brink's Robbery, the Great Molasses Flood site, All Saints Way, Battery Wharf and North Square.
How long does it take and how far will we walk?
Allow about 2.5 hours to cover roughly 2.8 km at a relaxed pace with time for the puzzles. It is best done during the day. You can pause at any point and continue later if you want a break for food on Hanover Street.
Is it suitable for kids?
It is recommended for families. The theme covers crime sites and the Great Molasses Flood, told as history rather than gore. It works best for children who can manage a 2.8 km walk over about 2.5 hours and enjoy solving puzzles with the adults.
