Where does the Jewish District walk start and finish?
It starts at the Wasserturm Prenzlauer Berg, the old water tower, and finishes back there, so it is a loop. Along the way it passes through the Scheunenviertel, with stops such as the Hackesche Höfe, the Neue Synagoge entrance, the Deserted Room and Rosenthaler Platz.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Plan for about two hours to cover roughly 4.9 km at a relaxed pace, including time to read the stories and solve the puzzles. You can pause whenever you like, stop for a coffee, and continue later from where you left off.
Is it suitable for children?
It is recommended for families, and the codes and riddles keep school-age children involved. The stories cover Jewish life before and during WWII, with memorials, cemeteries and the Deserted Room, so it suits older children who can handle the subject of persecution and the walking distance.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, and there is no fixed start time or guide to meet. Start whenever suits you, ideally during the day when the route is at its best.
Is the route outdoors, and what if it rains?
The walk is outdoors, moving between streets, synagogue and church entrances, memorials and cemeteries in Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. Bring a coat if rain is forecast. Since you can pause the game at any point, you can shelter and pick it up again later.
