It works like an outdoor escape game spread across the old town. Your phone leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets puzzles based on what is in front of you, all to recover the stolen President's Barrel before the auction begins.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at the Hôtel-Dieu and finishes at Square des Lions, so it does not end where it began. On the way you pass Porte Marie de Bourgogne, Place Carnot, the Hôtel de Ville, the Wine Museum and the Collégiale Notre-Dame, about 2.5 km in all.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around an hour and 45 minutes, walking and puzzles included. You can pause at any point, for a coffee or a tasting, and carry on later from where you stopped.
Is it good for kids?
It is tagged family friendly, and the detective story with puzzles set in the streets suits school-age children who can walk about 2.5 km. Younger children may enjoy the walk but will need adults to lead the puzzles.
Do we need to book a time or join a group?
No. It is free to play, you start whenever you like, and there is no group to join or guide to meet. Friends or family can play together, gathered around a phone as you walk through the old town.
