Yes. This quest is played on your phone, so you start whenever you like with no guide and no group to join. The app leads you through eight stops on the Illuminati path, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what you see there.
Is it a game or a walking tour?
Both. You walk a real route through Rome's piazzas, churches and fountains while playing a mystery: cardinals are disappearing and symbols point the way. At each stop you solve a puzzle using what is in front of you before the app sends you on. The difficulty is rated medium.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The quest starts at Santa delle Naiadi and finishes at Santa Maria della Vitoria, passing Piazza San Pietro, Castel Sant'Angelo, Fontana dei Fiumi, the Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi and Fontana del Tritone. The route covers 5.2 km and takes around 90 minutes, and you can pause and continue later.
Can we play in the evening?
Yes, you can start at any time without booking a slot. Note that the Pantheon is closed after 7PM, but the quest still works and you can carry on playing past it. The whole route is outdoors on city streets, so plan for the weather.
