Preguntas frecuentes
Did Rembrandt live in Leiden?
Yes. Rembrandt van Rijn lived in the centre of Leiden for the first 25 years of his life and mastered painting there. Most landmarks of his life in the city still stand, and the route visits places such as Pieterskerk, Universiteit Leiden, Rembrandtplein and sites linked to his school and studio.
Is there a Rembrandt walking route in Leiden?
This self-guided route covers about 3 km with 10 stops and takes around two hours. It starts and ends at Molen De Put, the windmill, and follows Rembrandt's youth past the Stille Rijn, Hooglandse Kerkgracht, Pieterskerk, the university, Doelenpoort and Rembrandtplein, with a puzzle at each place.
Is it good for kids?
It is tagged family friendly, and the puzzles at each stop keep things moving, so it suits children old enough to enjoy solving puzzles and walking about 3 km over roughly two hours. Since you can pause at any point, it is easy to take breaks along the way.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
No time slot is needed. You start whenever you like on your phone, with no guide and no group to join, and one ticket covers your whole group. The route is open around the clock, though it is better walked in daylight.
What if the weather turns cold or wet?
The walk is outdoors, but you can pause the game whenever you need and continue later. If it gets cold, you can step inside to warm up at almost any location along the route, then pick up where you left off.
