<div>Not long after Germany invaded the Netherlands in May of 1940, the Jewish Quarter of Amsterdam was closed off from the outside world. Until Canadian forces liberated the city five years later.&nbsp;<br><br>Only very few of the inhabitants who were living there at the beginning of the War ever returned from the camps.
