What was New Orleans like in 1862?
It was one of the hardest times in the city's history. Union troops occupied New Orleans and lived among the residents. Soldiers could not trust anyone, and citizens distrusted the very soldiers responsible for killing members of their families. The walk shows what places were then and what they have become today.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Omni Royal Orleans and finishes at The Mint, so it does not return to the start. Along the way you pass Brennan's, Crescent City Books, Napoleon House, the Pharmacy Museum, St. Louis Cathedral, Café du Monde and the French Market, covering about 2.7 km.
How long does it take?
Most players take a little over two hours, walking and puzzles included. You can pause at any point and continue later, so it is easy to stop for a coffee at Café du Monde or a meal along the route.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on a phone. There is no set start time and no group to join. You start whenever you like, and the app guides you from stop to stop without a live guide.
