The hauntings · told as you walk

The hauntings of Budapest, told where they actually happened.

Starting at Heroes' Square, where seven chieftains sealed a blood pact over a thousand years ago, you follow a route through Varosliget Park and the city's residential streets to the iron-curtained facade of the House of Terrors and the platforms of Nyugati Station. Along the way: a serial killer's housekeeper, a suitcase murder, a child who knocked on the wrong gate, an architect who died inside his own building, and the story of the only body ever found in a metal drum. No guide. No headphones. Just you, the city, and eleven locations that have been waiting a very long time for someone to pay attention.

  • 11 stops
  • about 6,370 steps
  • 1 spirit to unmask
  • Explore Heroes' Square, Vajdahunyad Castle, the House of Terrors, and Nyugati Station Follow the trail of Budapest's darkest stories: blood oaths, serial killers, and forgotten victims Solve puzzles at eleven locations where history left its most uncomfortable marks
